Yesterday it was raining. I generally love to listen to it however I kept hearing a rhythmic dripping. I could not find the source of the noise but figure it must be a roof leak. Thankfully Alex came over ( wearing his roofer’s hat as he puts it) and repaired the roof. Thanks so much. He is wonderful and I am grateful for his assistance. It’s a new year and I am trying to keep up before I fall behind. I thought I had jury duty tomorrow and planned to go but when I check my summons, it was for today. YIKES! I called and luckily my group was cancelled . Someday I am just plain grateful for the small things. I made several appointments for Jo. Her filing in her tooth came out so she is going to the dentist tomorrow. Molly ( Jo’s cat) is going to the vet Thursday. I have to work Wednesday and Friday. I change my days due to jury duty and was frustrated because I chose the wrong day. I forgot to account for Mom’s dialysis. Alex has agreed to take her on Wednesday, hopefully Mike can take her Friday. It seems the more I tried to arrange things, there are always small snaggles. Oh well, that’s life. On a good note, Jean-Luc has been cross stitching with me. I had several kits I bought years ago, so I have finished 3 of them. Check my moblog gallery.
Happy New Year to you all. It is going to be a interesting year. We are waiting for a new member of the family to be born. I feel optimistic about the new year. It will not be easy but I am ready for the challenges ahead. I also will try to get back to my artistic endeavors and perhaps some traveling. I am also planning to get a new roof, fence and most hopefully a new kitchen. I have made a list of goals and a tentative timeline. I hope this will keep me on track.
It was a last minute plan but I went to the movies with Alex, Katelyn and Jean-Luc. We hung at the mall because the movie did not start until 3:30. I found some great Nightmare Before Christmas characters and found 3 video games to buy. I sure the guys did not really like the mall walk but they were patient. We saw “Twilight”. It was a good movie. It is gear to the teenage crowd. Katelyn and Jean-Luc really like it. They are looking forward to the sequel We went to the ice cream parlour afterward. I had pumpkin and cake batter flavors. We felt stuffed. We had already indulge in popcorn, pretzel and soda at the movies. It was a great day and I enjoyed being with the kids. It was the best way to end the new year. One strange note of the day, it was Steve’s birthday. Mom and I found a picture of Steve on her dresser drawer. Mom, Jo and I swear we did not place it there. I did not know where the picture was stored even but somehow it was found that morning.
Today is Christmas, I went to work. I really do not mind, it’s like giving a gift to the patients. I try to do something extra for them or make them smile. The trouble this year is that I did not make it to bed until 2 am. Let me tell you, 6 am comes early. I actually made it to work on time, surprising the other charge nurse. I was doing well until I hit the wall at 9:30. I could barely keep my eyes open. One nurse made me tea and toast. After a quick rest and meal , I was ready for the afternoon. Getting paid time and a half, helped to compensate me for my pain. We were busy at the hospital but I was able to manage to get home early. Yipee! I am tired. A quick nap might be in order. I had a great time at the Christmas party and love to spend time with everyone. Love to all of you and thanks for the gifts.
